Apologies for the September Snafu...We Didn't Know What We Were Getting Into!

Posted almost 2 years ago by Alicia Frasure

Hello Lovely NETNPA Members!

A word about the past two meetings….

We sincerely apologize for any of our members who may have been turned away from our meeting by a drug rep.  This behavior of the drug reps is unacceptable and NOT something that we have ever experienced in the past and do not plan on having happen again in the future.  To those members and supporters of NETNPA we are extremely upset on your behalf.  My RBF was huge, so much so that I had a few people ask me what was wrong.

In the future we will be vetting the drug reps much more intensely and will communicate to you any nuances or requests that they may have prior to the event so that you know what exactly you are signing up for.  Given that we have had negative encounters on the planning end with the past 2 reps, we are taking this as a sign to be more discerning in who we choose to host for us.

Tonight’s meeting was riddled with issues from 5:30pm and onward complete with those who arrived early being told by the venue that we did not have the room until 6:30pm to being told that they were only planning on 12-15 people and were only set up for that many to having 3 of our members turned away by the rep to having the speaker read every slide.  While we cannot control the content of the presentation, we will do everything in our abilities to carefully vet who we subject ourselves to.

Another layer that some may not be aware of regarding tonight’s meeting is that the rep had an auditor in attendance, which may be part of the bizarreness that you may have felt this evening (for those who attended).

Again, we apologize to those of you who may have felt that something was “off” or were turned away.

In the future, we may be asking for other details with registration that are required by the drug rep.  Additionally, we will need to do our part to have an accurate number to provide to the reps who sponsor us, meaning making sure to register if you plan to attend and also canceling your registration if something comes up and you find you cannot attend.

We know that life happens and things come up, so we understand if you cannot make it when you have planned to attend, so we just ask that you update your registration to reflect if you aren’t able to attend so that we can communicate to the drug rep.

We are aware that our website has massive issues when it comes to membership and registering for events.  We DO NOT want the website to be a deterrent, so please please reach out to a Board member OR email netnpa@registerednurses.com to let us know IF you are planning to attend and are having issues registering.  We have a handful of regular attendees who have issues with the website and being able to register, but we have worked with them to get them accounted for and on our list.

We appreciate your support and look forward to seeing you at our future meetings.

Thank you for bearing with us while we navigate the new batch of drug reps.
