Support Our Team
We are participating in the 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb to pay tribute to the FDNY firefighters who selflessly gave their lives so that others might live. Your support of the 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb provides assistance to the surviving families and co-workers of the 343 firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001.
Last year NETNPA Vice President Amanda Beach and I were going to register and do this event, but it was closed as it had reached its capacity.
Many regional first responders and fire-fighters attend this event and have large teams. 2021 was the 20th anniversary of 9/11 and we felt that although the local event had reached capacity, we needed/wanted to still participate in some way in order to pay our respects and honor fellow first responders. Amanda and I decided that although we didn't get to participate in the Bristol official 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb, we were still going to do the stair climb to honor those who did so on 9/11.
We went to a local school stadium and climbed the equivalent of 110 stories of the World Trade Center.
We did it.
We were proud to do so.
Plus it made us reflect on those who were there that day, in the heavy gear, breathing toxins, in the heat of a building on fire, not knowing what was happening, but running forward and straight into the unknown in order to uphold their duty and oath to serve and assist the public.
It was an amazing experience!
We were glad that we did it, even if it wasn't in the "official" hosted way that we had planned. It was nice to honor those who gave their lives for others in a massive tragedy our country faced.
For 2022, we have decided to not procrastinate (for once--lol) and to get in gear early so that we don't miss out on this event! We have created a team for the Northeast Tennessee Nurse Practitioners Association and we hope that YOU will join us, or support us, as we pay tribute and raise money for this cause.
Thank you and we look forward to climbing those stairs with you in real life or in spirit!
