NETNPA Social Meeting

Chop House, Kingsport

Speaker to address Ingrezza (medication to assist with Tardive Dyskinesia).
Speaker TBA.

We will announce the results of the Vice President and Treasurer elections at this meeting.

Side note about the sponsor:
The sponsor does indicate that since medication is not FDA approved for children or pregnant women, those who are "strictly" only certified to see these patients may be limited in ability to attend.
However, if you are a provider whose SCOPE covers patients outside of the "FDA restricted population" then you can absolutely attend.

Rambling on information I feel is relevant and how to look at things...

Basically, in my view, if you are an FNP and are able to see the spectrum of ages, then you are obviously able to attend since that is a medication you may encounter at some point.  Same thing if you are a Women's Health provider, NOT ALL OF YOUR PATIENTS are pregnant.  As a WH provider you see NON-pregnant people at some point in your practice (right), so you are not limited in ability to attend (in my view).

Does that make sense?

IMO, even those of you who have Pediatrics as your specialty..."Pediatric health care providers, including PNPs, are qualified to assist patients from birth to age 21 years of age, adolescents and young adults older than 21 years of age with special health care needs, and young adult patients during the transition to adult health care services"...so over 18+ is part of PNP's practice, so I feel that it is appropriate to be included since PNP's SCOPE covers young adults.

Make sense?

Basically, while the Sponsor has those limitations essentially to prob CYA (on their end), if YOU are capable of seeing and caring for patient's within your licensure and SCOPE, then I don't see an issue with you attending.
If you have questions, please let me know and reach out.

We do not want to exclude anybody at all.

We just have to "disclose" the sponsor's "restriction" and respect it.
Again, if you are unsure and you are planning/wanting to attend...just reach out to us and we can discuss.
And yes, we have probably heard this topic before, but our gracious sponsor was able to help us in a timely fashion, so we are happy to have them and hope that you will support them as well by attending.
