The Advanced Wound Care Core Curriculum course includes more complex concepts, skills, and techniques. Some of the topics explored in this course include:
Addressing a wound that fails to respond to treatment. It is common for a wound to stop progressing, and this course will discuss some reasons this may happen and teach you some interventions that may help the wound advance into healing again.
A deep discussion of the more uncommon and more complex etiologies behind wounds that go beyond the basics. Some topics that will be explored are advanced vascular wounds, advanced diabetic wounds, wounds that may be caused by autoimmune or connective tissue disorders, wounds that may be caused by drugs or other iatrogenic causes, and wounds that may be related to infectious diseases. We will discuss how to recognize such a wound and how to treat them.
Novel and innovative treatments. Wound care is an exciting field that is constantly growing and evolving. We will discuss advanced dressings, using cellular products, drug scaffolding systems, and more!
This course may be taken standalone for furthering your wound care knowledge, or along with Basic Wound Care Core Curriculum for full, overarching training in the art of wound care.
