This would not be considered primary care but would be excellent for students to experience care of the obese patient with all of the comorbidities that accompany obesity. I work with the overweight/obese patient to become healthier through medically managed weight loss while also working with their primary care providers to decrease and discontinue medications as needed. We have seen patients taken off several types of meds including cholesterol, hypertension and diabetes meds (including insulin). This is an extremely rewarding field to be a part of as it truly is healthcare at its best and not just practicing medicine.

Geriatric NP providing care in nursing homes in Kingsport at Holston Manor, Mountain City, Johnson City and Elizabethton. The Kingsport location is medical with the other three being psychiatric, dealing with dementias and behaviors related to this disease. I am also starting a house call business in Johnson County, but dont expect to have it up and going until this summer.
